Dear Valued Industry Professional, The Government has confirmed Cabinet will be considering allowing Auckland beauty/skin therapists to open next week. NZ Board has jumped into action to provide additional guidelines and education for therapists in preparation to open. In the Red traffic light stage, you can only operate if you, your staff, and clients are all double vaccinated. We suggest you prepare with the following,

  1. Ensure you and your staff have downloaded their Covid Vaccination Certificates -see the My Covid Record page https://mycovidrecord.health.nz/

  2. There should be a notice at the entrance to your premises with QR code and paper recording measures

  3. Clients AND Staff MUST have a valid vaccination certificate for entry to the premises (the Government are still to release information on how this is to operate – we will keep you updated)

  4. Ensure clients and staff are masked (clients can remove mask for treatment)

  5. Put in measures to ensure 1 metre distancing between clients in common areas e.g., reception, back room

  6. Have hand sanitiser available

Upskill with an International Infection Control qualification In consultation with the MBIE Covid Response Team, they have encouraged us to engage with clinic owners and therapists to help upskill your Pandemic Response Measures. We are now able to offer the International Safety Infection Control Charter Programme [ISICC] along with our Pandemic Response Plan pack. The ISICC is an internationally recognised qualification and is in operation in 6 other countries around the world. This course was developed by Professor Laurance Walsh, a leading researcher in clinical microbiology, biofilm ecology, biocides, and clinical infection control from Australia who received the Office of the Order of Australia and sits on numerous regulatory bodies including Standards Australia. For you, this qualification demonstrates that you support a global standard of safety and are educated and proficient in understanding Covid-19 related hygiene and safety measures necessary to ensure your therapists, staff and clients are being treated in a safe environment. These standards complement our NZ specific Health and Hygiene Guidelines. Many of our clients may be nervous returning to clinics, they want to see evidence that they are safe in your clinic. This is your greatest point of difference, and your qualifications are your greatest asset and marketing tools. The PAN001: Pandemic Infection Control Certification Programme consists of:

  • A theory study module. This online course can be undertaken over 4 weeks at your own pace

  • An open book multichoice test. 90% pass mark is required to gain your certificate

  • On qualifying you will receive,

  • Your Pandemic Certificate and pledge (can be displayed on your wall)

  • Our Pandemic response Plan for everyday instructions on Covid health and safety requirements.
